God's View on Abortion

Because our standard for morality is the Word of God, we must examine the issue of abortion through the lens of God’s Word. Is abortion murder? What is the Christian's responsibility toward those affected by abortion?

1. God created human life in His Image. (Psalm 100:3; Isaiah 64:8)

2. The taking of human life is murder. (Genesis 9:6; Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 19:10)

3. Human life begins at conception. 
• God fashions us in the womb. (Psalm 139:13-16; Job 31:15; Jeremiah 1:5; Isaiah 44:24; Psalm 127:3)
• God considers unborn babies living human beings. (Luke 1:41; Luke 1:44; Galatians 1:15)
• God considers the killing of an unborn baby the killing of a human being. (Exodus 21:22-25)

4. Abortion, the taking of an unborn human life, is murder. 
• What about in the case of rape or incest? (Deuteronomy 24:16)
• What if the child might be born unhealthy, deformed, or disabled? (Exodus 4:11; Isaiah 45:9-11)
• What if I have had an abortion?
- If you are unsaved, repent, and trust Christ to save you. (Romans 10:13; Acts 10:43)
- If you are a Christian, confess your sin to God and be restored to Him. (1 John 1:9; Psalm 103:12; Isaiah 43:25)
- Be comforted to know your baby is in heaven. (2 Samuel 12:22-23)
• What should I do about this issue of abortion?
- Stand up against abortion and proclaim God’s view on abortion.
- Reach out in love to those considering abortion and try to stop them. 
- Reach out in love to those who have had an abortion and point them to Christ Who is willing to forgive. 
- Accept, encourage and help those who have had an abortion.
