The Fulness of Christ in Your Speech, Part 2

October 27, 2019 Speaker: Michael Knight Series: Colossians

Topic: Prayer Passage: Colossians 4:1–6

When the topic of speech arises, we tend to think that the Scriptures will first address our speech toward others. Instead, Colossians begins with our speech toward God. This sermon is a continuation of “The Fulness of Christ in Your Speech, Part 1.”

To listen to Part One, follow this link.

1. Your Speech with God (Colossians 4:1-4)
• Be devoted to prayer.
• Be alert when you pray.
• Be thankful in prayer.
• Pray for the effective ministry of others. (Colossians 4:3)
• Pray for the spread of the Gospel and for souls to be saved.

2. Your Speech with the World (Colossians 4:5-6)
• Be wise in your living.
- Your conduct means your lifestyle.
- “Outsiders” refers to the unsaved.
- Live wisely before the unsaved.
- Remember your walk talks louder than your talk talks.

• Be gracious in your speech. (Matthew 12:34)
- This is speech that is spiritual, wholesome, fitting, kind, considerate, purposeful, thoughtful; words with content and meaning. (Ephesians 4:29)
