Proverbs 14:34 says righteousness exalts a nation. Racism is tragically dividing our nation. What is God’s remedy for racism? (Psalm 33:12)
What is racism?
Definitions of racism from dictionary.com:
1. “A belief or doctrine…usually involving the idea that one’s own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a particular racial group is inferior to the others.”
2. “A policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.”
3. “Hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.”
God hates racism. (Proverbs 6:16-18)
What is God’s perspective on racism?
• All people are part of the same race, the human race. (Genesis 2:7, 18, 21-22; Acts 17:26; 1 Corinthians 15:39)
• All people are created the same way, in God’s image. (Genesis 1:27, 9:6)
• All people are born with the same problem: We are sinners in need of a Savior. (Romans 5:12; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:10)
• All people are saved the same way, by grace through faith in Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:16)
• All Christians are part of the same body, the Church. (Ephesians 2:11-22; Revelation 7:9)
• All Christians are given the same command, love God and others. (Matthew 22:36-40)
What is God’s remedy for racism?
• Racism is a heart problem. Therefore, the only remedy for racism is to change the heart. The only way to change the heart is through the Gospel.
