Being a father is an important responsibility. How can a father be what God intends for him to be? Let’s examine the instructions for fatherhood from a wise father found in Proverbs 3:1-12.

- Read and study God’s Word.
- Meditate, memorize, and live according to God’s Word. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

- Longer Life (Proverbs 3:2; Ephesians 6:1-3)
- Peaceful Life (Proverbs 3:2; Ephesians 6:4)
- Acceptable Life (Proverbs 3:4)
- Rely on the Lord. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

- The Promise of Our Trust
- God will show us the right way to go.
- God will bring us to His appointed goal which is for our good and His glory.
- Reverence the Lord. (Proverbs 3:7-10)
- You should fear the Lord.
- You should forsake evil.
- You should give your first fruits to Him.
- You will be filled with plenty.
- Receive the Lord’s Discipline. (Proverbs 3:11-12)
- God’s discipline should not be resisted. (Hebrews 12:4-8)
- God’s discipline is loving.
- Respond with obedience.
