The Worthy Champion

July 26, 2020 Speaker: Chad Morris Series: Current Sermon

Topic: Christ Passage: Revelation 1:11– 19:16

Regardless of the circumstances in life, Jesus is King! Who are you trying to please in this life? If the King of Kings is displeased, what does pleasing others matter? Jesus is the One Who has rule and control. Our responsibility is to respond. What should our response be? Let’s look at the answers in the Book of Revelation.

The Theme of Revelation: Jesus Christ (Revelation 1:1)
- Jesus is being revealed!
- Our focus should not be on the events in Revelation. Our focus should be on Jesus.
- Jesus is the unmatched, worthy, Champion-King!

4 Truths about Jesus from Revelation:
1. Jesus has overcome! (Revelation 3:21; John 16:33; 1 Corinthians 15:55-57; Revelation 5:5)

2. Jesus is worthy! (Revelation 5:1-14)

3. Jesus has all authority!
- Authority means to give, grant, permit. It’s used 22 times in Revelation.
(Revelation 6:1-8; 7:1-2; 8:1-2; 9:1-5; 11:3, 6; 12:10; 13:2-7)
- Everything in our lives is under His control.

4. Jesus is King of Kings. (Revelation 11:15; 19:11-16)
- Jesus is the unmatched, worthy, Champion-King.

Three Reasons These Truths Matter:
1. Jesus is ruling.
2. Jesus is in control. (Revelation 17:17)
3. We must respond...
- In faith
- In obedience
- In humility
- In worship

It’s God’s business to know the whys of life. It’s our responsibility to respond rightly.
