When a person gets saved, how does his or her life change? What does a godly Christian look like? What is a good life? Let's examine 1 Peter 3:10-12 to answer these questions.
1. The Sense of Living a Good Life (1 Peter 3:10a; Psalm 34:12-16)
• This is not saying that if you live for God life will be easy. (2 Timothy 3:12; John 15:20; Acts 14:22)
• This is living with the purpose of glorifying God. (John 17; Matthew 22:37)
• This is living a life that counts for eternity. (2 Corinthians 4:7-12, 15)
“Only one life will soon be passed; only what’s done for Christ will last.” C.T. Studd
2. The Sketch of Living a Good Life
• Keep your tongue from evil and deceit. (1 Peter 3:10b; James 3:8)
• Turn away from evil and do good. (1 Peter 3:11a; James 4:7-8)
• Seek and pursue peace. (1 Peter 3:11b; Matthew 5:9)
• Remember God is for the righteous and against the evildoers. (1 Peter 3:12; Proverbs 15:8)
