Galatians 6:4-5 commands us to examine our actions and motives. As we start the New Year, let's join one another in examining our lives. First, we must know whether we are in the Lord, and, second, we must scrutinize our lives to see if they are pleasing to the Lord (1 Corinthians 3:11-15).
1. Examine your salvation. (2 Corinthians 13:5; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Romans 5:8; John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 10:9-10; Romans 10:13; 1 John 5:13 )
2. Examine your personal walk with God. (Galatians 6:4)
- Is there any unconfessed sin in your life? (1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13; Psalm 139:23-24)
- Are there any unresolved conflicts with others? (Romans 12:18; Mark 11:25; Matthew 5:23-24)
- Are you spending time with God? (Matthew 6:6, 33; James 4:8; Luke 10:38-42)
- Are you serving in the local church? (Hebrews 10:25; 1 Peter 4:10)
3. Examine your relationships with others.
- Your Relationship with Your Spouse (Ephesians 5:21-33)
- Your Relationship with Your Children (Ephesians 6:1-4; Deuteronomy 6:1-9)
- Your Relationship with Other Believers (Galatians 6:10; Romans 12:10)
- Your Relationship with the Lost (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:8)
4. Examine your ministry at church.
5. Examine your finances.
6. Examine your testimony at work.
7. Examine your health. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
What things in your life do you need to make right? Ask God to forgive you and make a commitment to change those things with God's help.
