Motivations to Arm Yourself to Suffer for Righteousness

March 14, 2021 Speaker: Michael Knight Series: The Epistle of 1 Peter

Topic: Trials and Suffering Passage: 1 Peter 4:3–6

Christ always does what pleases God the Father. This 'pleasing God' mindset is what allows us to rise above sin's control, endure persecution, and live victoriously. What motivates us to please God? 1 Peter 4:3-6 reveals what our motivation should be.

1. Remember your sinful past and how you used to live. (1 Peter 4:3)

2. Review your present opposition by the unsaved world. (1 Peter 4:4)

3. Remember the future judgment of the wicked. (1 Peter 4:5; 2 Timothy 4:1: Revelation 20:11-15)

4. Remember the future reward of the saved. (1 Peter 4:6; James 1:12)
