Exhortations to All Church Members, Part 1

At the conclusion of Peter’s epistle to the believers who were dispersed by persecution, Peter addresses the commands for submission and humility. What message does God have for us today? Let’s examine 1 Peter 5:5-7.

1. Submit to your pastors. (1 Peter 5:5a; Ephesians 5; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; Hebrews 13:17)
2. Humbly serve one another. (1 Peter 5:5b-5c; Proverbs 3:34; James 4:6; John 13:3-17)
3. Humble yourself before God. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
- This is the key to doing the previous two commands.
• By recognizing His sovereignty over you.
• By resting in His care for you.
