Do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God? Throughout the ages, many have tried to undermine, discredit, and disprove the certainty of God’s Word. 2 Peter 1:16-21 addresses the truth that the Bible is God’s Word.
1. God’s Word is confirmed by credible eyewitnesses. (2 Peter 1:16-18)
• The message about Christ is not a myth or fairy tale.
• The message about Christ is validated by the apostles. (Matthew 16:28-17:8)
- Eyewitnesses of Christ’s majesty
- Witnesses of God’s endorsement of Christ
2. God’s Word came directly from God. (2 Peter 1:19-21)
• God’s Word is even more reliable than personal experience. (2 Peter 1:19a)
• God’s Word did not come from man.
- It didn’t originate from man’s interpretation or views. (2 Peter 1:20)
- It didn’t originate from man’s will or efforts. (2 Peter 1:21a)
3. God’s Word came directly from the Holy Spirit of God. (2 Peter 1:21b; 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
4. Pay attention to and live according to God’s Word. (2 Peter 1:19b)
Let the Word of God be enough! Let the Word of God stand.
