How to Know God's Will

October 24, 2021 Speaker: Michael Knight Series: Current Sermon

Topic: God's Will Passage: 1 Timothy 2:3–4

In Daniel 4, King Nebuchadnezzar thought he was God, and God caused Him to lose His mind. When his sanity returned, Nebuchadnezzar realized that God is sovereign. God, as Creator, has rule over our lives. How do we know His will for our lives? Let’s look at the Scripture to find out what He has to say to us.

Three Forms of God’s Will:
1. God’s Sovereign Will
• God formulated this will in eternity past and causes all events to work toward its fulfillment.

2. God’s Moral Will
• A definite delineation between right and wrong that is revealed in His Word.

3. God’s Individual Will
• He has a plan for every believer’s life.

• What is the secret to knowing God’s will.
- You know God’s will by doing God’s will.
> It is God’s will that you become a Christian. (1 Timothy 2:3-4; 2 Peter 3:9)
> It is God’s will that you grow as a Christian. (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 4:3)
> It is God’s will that you are Spirit-controlled. (Ephesians 5:17-18)
> It is God’s will that you are persecuted for living godly. (2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Peter 3:17)
> It is God’s will that you submit to your authorities. (1 Peter 2:13-15; Ephesians 5-6; Romans 13; Hebrews 13)
> It is God’s will that you are thankful in all things. (1 Thessalonians 5:18; Ephesians 5:20)
