Philippians 1:9-11 tells us how to pray for others according to the Scriptures. Pray for others that the attention would be drawn to God.
1. They would constantly keep on overflowing and growing in Biblical love. (Philippians 1:9)
• The Abounding of Their Love
- Continual Overflowing of Love
- Continual Growth of Love
• The Boundaries of Their Love:
- Knowledge
- Discernment
2. They would have discerning approval. (Philippians 1:10a)
• About what is right
• About what is best
3. They would have godly character. (Philippians 1:10b-11a)
• Genuine Character
• Blameless Character (Acts 24:16)
• Fruitful Character (Galatians 5:22)
4. They would bring glory and praise to God. (Philippians 1:11b)
• The glory of God magnifies Who God is.
• The praise of God rejoices over what God has done.
How should we pray for others?
Pray that others would be constantly overflowing and increasing in love within the boundaries of knowledge (God’s Word) and discernment (practical application of God’s Word). Pray that they would have discerning approval about what is right and best, and have genuine, blameless, fruitful, godly character for the glory and praise of God.
