How to Follow Christ

When the Scripture uses a word multiple times, God is emphasizing a truth. The word “follow” is mentioned five times in Luke 9:57-62. What does it mean to follow Christ? How do we follow Him? How can we be like Him?

1. What does it mean to follow Christ?
• “Follow” means “to join one as a disciple, to become a disciple of someone, or to be in the same way with.”
•It means to commit yourself to be what Christ wants you to be and to do what Christ wants you to do.
• To follow Christ simply means to be like Christ.

2. What are the demands for following Christ?
• You must follow Christ even when life is hard. (Luke 9.57-58)
• You must follow Christ now. (Luke 9:59-60)
• You must follow Christ wholeheartedly. (Luke 9:61, 16:13)
