God's Message to the LGBTQ+ Community

God has a message of condemnation, judgment, and hope for the LGBTQ+ community. In light of His love and mercy, God promises in Romans 10:13 that whoever calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. A holy God loves and desires to reconcile sinners to Himself through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). As sinners, when we repent and believe in Jesus, Christ’s righteousness becomes our own!

1. God’s Message of Condemnation
• I Corinthians 6:9-10

“Effeminate”
- In a sexual sense it refers to a boy kept for homosexual relations with a man or a male who submits his body to unnatural lewdness.
- Could be used to refer to a transvestite, a cross-dresser, transgender, someone who has a sex change, or other gender perversions.

“Homosexual”
- Refers to one who lies with a male as with a female, a sodomite, an abuser of oneself with mankind.
- Used to refer not only to homosexual men, but also to those who are lesbians, those who are gay, or those who are bisexual.
- These practices go against what God established as normal male-female sexual roles.

Other passages condemning the trans lifestyle:
• Deuteronomy 22:5 – Wearing clothing of the opposite sex was an abomination to God.
• Deuteronomy 23:1 – A eunuch who had his male organs altered was not allowed to participate in the worship of the Lord.
• Anything that confuses or alters your biological sex is not pleasing to God.

Other passages condemning homosexuality:
• Leviticus 18:22-30 – Homosexuality is just as perverse as bestiality.
• Leviticus 20:13 – Homosexuality was so damaging to a nation that God told Israel to practice capital punishment in order to discourage it.

2. God’s Message of Judgment
• God judged the city of Sodom for the sin of homosexuality. (Genesis 19:1-11)
• God judged nations for the sin of homosexuality. (Leviticus 18:24-30)
• God judged individuals who practiced homosexuality.
- The Judgment of God’s Abandonment (Romans 1:24-30)
- The Judgment of Eternity in Hell (Revelation 21:8; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

3. God’s Message of Hope
• God loves LGBTQ+ people and died to save them.
• God is willing and ready to forgive any LGBTQ+ person who repents and believes in Christ.
• Anyone who repents and believes in Christ will be washed, sanctified, and justified. (1 Corinthians 6:11)
- The church in Corinth was full of former LGBTQ people who had been saved by the grace of God.
- Every church is full of LGBTQ+ sinners that have been saved by the grace of God.
• It is the mission of the church to convert LGBTQ+ people to Christ.
- This involves sharing God’s message of condemnation on the LGBTQ+ lifestyle.
- This involves sharing God’s message of judgment on the sin of the LGBTQ+ lifestyle.
- This involves sharing God’s message of hope found only in the Gospel of Jesus.
