The State of Community Baptist Church 2021

1. Our Purpose

• The purpose of Community Baptist Church is to bring glory to God by worshipping the Lord in righteousness and holiness, by evangelizing the lost at home and abroad, by edifying and equipping the saints through Bible-centered preaching and teaching, and by dwelling together in warm Christian fellowship.

• The main purpose of the local church is to bring glory to God. (Romans 11:36; 1 Corinthians 10:31)
- “Glory” means “to exalt; to give the right opinion of.”

• The purpose of the local church is to exalt the Lord by giving the right opinion of God in all things to all people. (Romans 12:1-2)

• The purpose of the local church is to worship the Lord in righteousness and holiness. (Romans 12:1, Matthew 22:37)
- “Worshipping God is daily living your life with a heart that is totally surrendered, totally obedient and totally devoted to pleasing, praising, and glorifying God and God alone.” - Private worship is loving God and living righteously.
- Public worship is the reverent expression of our love and adoration for God.

• The purpose of the local church is to edify and equip the saints through Bible-centered preaching and teaching. (Matthew 28:20; 2 Peter 3:18)
- This is discipleship.
- Discipleship is the process by which we grow into Christ-likeness.

• The purpose of the local church is to dwell together in warm, Christian fellowship. (Acts 2:42)
- “Fellowship” means “association, community, communion, participation, willing contribution, gift, sharing or partnership.”
> Fellowship is actively doing God’s will together.
> To be devoted to fellowship is to be actively serving and participating together in the ministry of the local church. It’s evangelizing, discipling, caring, encouraging, sharing, and serving God.

• The purpose of the local church is to reach the lost.

2. Our Programs
• Our Weekly Services
- Sunday Worship
> The emphasis is on the preaching of the Word to edify and equip the saints.
- Life Groups
> Emphasis is on the teaching of the Word.
- Wednesday Prayer
> The emphasis is on Bible study and prayer.
- Visitation
> The emphasis is on evangelism.
• In-reach Ministries
- Nursery, kids, teen, music, deacons, ladies, baby showers, bridal showers, men’s, sound, video, security, custodial, greeter, usher, grounds, building, maintenance, website, discipleship of new Christians, church fellowship, activities, couples retreats, etc.
• Our Outreach Ministries
- Visitation, tracts, monthly outreach emphasis, evangelism training, mission trips, Easter and Christmas programs, Family Fun Fest, Trunk or Treat, support of foreign missionaries
